Core Job Duties and Responsibilities:  Diversity, equity, and inclusion leadership: serve as a thought leader, key partner, steward, and champion to deepen the Alumnae Association’s approaches to diversity, equity, and inclusion work
• oversee both strategy and implementation for increasing organizational capacity for DEI among staff, alums, the Alumnae Association board, volunteers, and ensure that program delivery and outcomes are inclusive and equitable
• coordinate closely with the College’s Office of Equity and Inclusion to set, oversee, track, and measure DEI goals for the Alumnae Association in concert with Mount Holyoke’s goals and anti-racism action plan • provide thought leadership on policies, benefits, and practices that support equity and inclusion
• collaborate with alum leaders to plan and implement strategies that are responsive to the needs and experiences of alums from a diverse range of social identities and class years
• participate in ongoing capacity building trainings - (Essential)

Overall alum engagement leadership, in collaboration with the Executive Director of the Alumnae Association:

• plan and delineate a dynamic and inclusive engagement strategy for enhancing long-term relationships with all Mount Holyoke College alums

• develop a comprehensive annual data-driven plan for global alum engagement • further develop and assess the key metrics for alum engagement, evaluating program success, and employing data-informed decision-making, in coordination with the Alumnae and Development Data Services team

• manage the alum engagement team and supervise staff responsible for alum programs, conferences, symposia, and events

• develop and implement innovative programs, services and events that expand alum engagement, including engagement work around diversity, inclusion, and equity; alum classes; and affinity groups with a focus on reimagining ways to effectively engage with all alums • partner with other leaders on campus to ensure a close alignment of alum engagement strategies, with the goal of a seamless and high-quality experience when an alum connects with Mount Holyoke

• participate in campus committees representing the alum voice and alum engagement strategic lens

• act as liaison to board committees • provide support for signature campus events including reunion • other duties as assigned - (Essential)

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum 10 years of event and program planning and volunteer management.
• Minimum 7 years experience supervising multiple full-time employees.
• Demonstrated leadership and outcomes in advancing strategies to increase equity and inclusion, including increasing capacity for         DEI efforts among staff and volunteers.
• Demonstrated track record of setting data-informed engagement strategies and achieving goals in a complex organization with many constituents.
• Demonstrated ability to cultivate productive and positive relationships with constituents from a wide variety of backgrounds and a diverse and global range of social identities.
• Outstanding written and oral communications and public relations skills; must have a record of providing exceptional service and responsiveness to constituents.
• Experience in resolving difficult situations and leading the work of resolving challenges and concerns from constituents, including coaching others on difficult conversations.
• Creativity, innovation, and a strong track record of developing effective partnerships.
• High level of proficiency with technology, including a demonstrated ability to quickly learn and fully leverage platforms such as CRM and project management systems, as well as to deliver online programs and services and manage progress toward team goals and using a range of platforms.
• High degree of initiative and ability to work independently as well as with teams.
• Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and experience leading others through change.
• Experience in conducting analysis of programs, recommending and implementing changes to meet goals.

Preferred Qualifications: • Master’s or other advanced/graduate degree preferred.
• Background in higher education, alumni relations, and/or international program development is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work with the specific constituent groups present in a higher education environment, including alumni, faculty, staff, and students is preferred.

Physical Demands: 

  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/ or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as light work.

  • Sufficient clarity of speech required includes those which permit the employee to discern verbal
    instructions and communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
  • Employee talks in front of large groups of people on a daily basis.
  • Employee speaks with students and other faculty daily by telephone, e-mail, or in person on a
    daily basis.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the
    discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. 
  • The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading. 
  • Employee operates office equipment and computers to perform essential duties and
    responsibilities.

Working Conditions: Regular evening and weekend hours are involved and the ability to travel is required.
