The University, located in Charlottesville, Virginia, is a selective public institution known for its teaching, research, and public service. UVA sponsors a 27-sport intercollegiate athletics program, which includes approximately 750 student-athletes.
The Department of Athletics seeks an Associate Athletics Director for External Operations. Reporting to the Deputy Athletics Director, the Associate Athletics Director for External Operations will be responsible for day to day oversight of various external units. In this role, the Associate Athletics Director is responsible to facilitate growth and increase revenue by developing marketing plans that will promote brand recognition and strategic revenue generation opportunities.
The position may serve as a sport administrator for assigned sports.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee day to day management responsibilities of various external units: marketing and fan engagement, media relations, creative services, video services, broadcast and event productions.
Lead the planning, development and execution of revenue generation initiatives.
Work closely with creative services to oversee the development of creative elements to support plans.
Ensure alignment of units to support all external activities.
Plan, create, and implement marketing, brand management and licensing strategies.
Foster a positive, high-performing team culture focused on creating a first-class fan experience.
Collaborate with Director of Ticket Sales on sales strategies, management, and marketing campaigns.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with external partners.
Facilitate consistent messaging across all channels.
Serve as primary day to day contact for multimedia rights holder.
Develop strategies to enhance the departments brand development and exposure.
Oversee licensing program and serve on the University Licensing Committee
Utilize market research and data insights to drive revenue generation.
Adhere to NCAA, ACC, and University compliance rules.
Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in sports marketing, revenue generation, sales, brand management, digital media, advertising, and/or a related field.
Prior supervisory experience.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to build relationships, collaborate, and work effectively with diverse constituents.
Strong work ethic.
Knowledge of NCAA, ACC, and University compliance rules.
Organizational and project management skills.
