Job Description

The Diversity Manager supervises staff and activities, conceptualize, plan, organize and execute day to day programming to promote diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness for the College of Southern Nevada. It oversees the efforts of the Diversity Council and other internal committees that relate to multicultural and diversity activities and institutional initiatives. In this function, the position manages its efforts with other members of the Office and the college-wide community. It supports the Chief of Staff/Chief Diversity Officer with creating a more diverse and inclusive campus and supports the institutional Strategic Plan efforts assigned to the Office.
  • Research, develop, recommend, and executive creative strategies to foster the organization's diversity goals.
  • Reviews current practices and policies, assessing and analyzing the extent to which they support or hinder the organization's diversity goals.
  • Establish the focus and strategic direction of the diversity team by prioritizing programs and skillsets according to the needs of the business.
  • Establish, evaluate, and report performance metrics against organization goals to properly measure success or areas of opportunity to provide better insight and recommendations to leaders on the diversity strategy.
  • Organize, manage, and serve as the primary point of contact for established and new diversity-focused organizations, including organizations focused on executives, professionals, and students.
  • Develops materials to promote diversity-related programming with external and internal audiences, manages web content and other communication tools to engage diverse communities.
  • Co-facilitates diversity workshops and coordinates student activities and actively provides services for several student/groups of students daily.
  • Manages diversity committee's activities, budgets, logistics, and coordinates approval of events.
  • Collaborates with other CSN Departments, committee chairs, student government, and other members on diversity initiatives, including developing a calendar of events and programs that support CSN's mission, vision, and goals.
  • Oversees special projects and targeted initiatives, including the B2M Mentoring Initiative and other programs serving diverse student populations.
  • Manages the Diversity Coordinator and student workers focused on assisting this function.
  • Provides support for the overarching Office goals and activities and assist in the preparation of internal and external documentation, including reports and recommendations.
  • Supports the office with other tasks as assigned by the Chief of Staff/Chief Diversity Officer.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline with 4 to 5 years of related experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills in conception, management, planning, organizing, and execution of events, workshops, and programs
  • Proven ability to work with diverse communities and different intersectionalities.
  • Proficiency in use of a personal computer and current software applications including, but not limiting to, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; interpersonal communication and human relations skills.
  • Ability to work independently and work in team settings.
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed for event coordination.
  • Ability to travel between CSN campuses and throughout the Las Vegas community as needed to attend events and meetings.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in related discipline preferred.
  • Knowledge of issues of social justice and diversity as fundamental aspect of student success.
  • Working knowledge of FERPA rules governing privacy, NSHE and community college policies and procedures, and core curriculum of university.
  • Diversity and cultural competency models, theories, and best practices; adult learning and motivation theories.
  • Understanding of barriers faced by underrepresented college students and greater Las Vegas community.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with faculty and campus staff.
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design programs such as Adobe Pro and Illustrator.

$72,864.00 - $77,964.00
