The Coordinator of Student Engagement & Programs assists with providing vision, leadership, and oversight for the University of Arizona’s student governing body, the Associated Students of the University of Arizona (ASUA). The Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director for Student Governance & Programs and works with student governance leaders and members of the campus community to develop and administer events that meet the needs of undergraduate and graduate/professional students. Areas of oversight may include, Spring Fling, Bear Down Camp, ZonaZoo, the Wildcat Events Board, Vendor Fairs, Social, Virtual, and Collaborative Events, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a member of the Student Governance & Programs staff overseeing campus-wide programming and resources
  • Serve as an advisor to areas within ASUA in the planning, fiscal responsibility, and implementation of programs and resources
  • Assist in the hiring, training, and evaluation of student leaders and volunteers
  • Perform assessment and evaluation of events and the extent to which they serve our diverse student population
  • Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Student Governance & Programs, create and manage budgets of programmatic areas of ASUA, monitor financial activities and create reports and projections for programmatic cost and revenue, prepare applications for grant and the fee proposal
  • Negotiate and execute contracts for programs including vendors, venues, and artists
  • Ensure the effective promotion and marketing of student and departmental programs
  • Plan and lead large-scale, community-wide programming events that engage multiple UA student communities
  • Works with the Assistant Director to develop a long-range strategy to engage students through event programming, including budgeting, marketing, and outreach to diverse communities on campus
  • Works closely with colleagues across the UA to effectively promote community engagement and collaborative opportunities
  • Ensures adherence to departmental and campus regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Conducts research and develops policies and procedures to guide the delivery of student services in programming and maintains knowledge of campus and community resources available to students
  • Potential for supervision and evaluation of graduate assistants
  • Serve on committees and in other roles within the Dean of Students Office and the campus community
  • Demonstrates strong written and oral communication, organizational skills, time management and the ability to work in a diverse, fast paced environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience required, including experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs, and experience advising student groups and volunteers
  • When necessary, must be flexible and willing to work evenings and some weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, or directly related field
  • Experience working in student affairs in a college or university setting
  • Experience working with student governance and/or shared governance at a college or university
  • Experience working with campus programming groups, clubs, and organizations
  • Experience working in marketing and outreach strategies
  • Experience working in booking, production, and promotion of large-scale public events
