GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Under minimal supervision, the library coordinator is responsible for effectively providing and promoting library resources and services to Kirkwood students and faculty on the Iowa City Campus. This position is responsible for overseeing the general operation and staffing of the Iowa City Campus Library and Technology Lab, in collaboration with the Iowa City Library Specialist. This position coordinates and provides reference services to faculty and students at the Iowa City Campus, and develops and delivers information literacy instruction to students through collaboration with faculty. The librarian is responsible for selection and de-selection of library materials, as well as collaborating with Main Campus librarians in review and selection of electronic library resources. The librarian will contribute professional expertise through non-teaching activities to the Iowa City Campus department, the division of Academic Affairs, and college-wide initiatives.

  • DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide reference services to students and faculty.
  • Develop and deliver information literacy instruction in the library, the classroom, and through online support.
  • Assist patrons using library resources.
  • Supervise part-time Reference Librarians at the Iowa City Campus.
  • Collaborate with faculty to teach students information literacy skills through assignments and class activities.
  • Collaborate in selecting and deselecting print and electronic resources.
  • Participate actively in team and department meetings.
  • Engage with faculty, student support staff, and campus administrators in supporting campus activities, projects, and initiatives.
  • Engage in professional development.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

    PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

    Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Frequent (34-66% reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    MA or MLS from an ALA accredited program. Previous experience working in an academic library.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

    Professional experience working in a community college library.
