DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will be a lecturer for the Veterinary Technology Department at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA). The incumbent will be expected to average 1.0 FTE as determined by the NCTA Faculty Workload policy, and to teach courses as assigned in the Veterinary Technology Department. Specific course assignments may be changed over time based on need.
Duties for this position will include:
1)Assist, develop and teach courses within the Veterinary Technology Department and other areas as assigned.
2)Course development includes course syllabi, lesson plans, and other course materials for both lecture and applied learning activities with emphasis on new techniques; be actively involved in the development of web-based courses.
3)Assess instructional resource needs.
4)The option to teach summer classes with compensation based on the NCTA Summer Remuneration Policy.
5)Keep attendance, progress, and evaluation records for students.
6)Maintain license in Veterinary Technology by attending appropriate Continuing Education courses; maintain proficiency in veterinary medicine, animal health, and care.
7)Assist in carrying out school policies as developed by the college administration.
8)Liaison with veterinarians and technicians through association meetings.
9)Complete and maintain the large van driving certification.
In addition to the above-described duties, the individual will be expected to accept committee assignments; attend department and college meetings; reporting responsibilities; advising; care for veterinary technology animals; oversee clubs, teams, and extracurricular activities; assist with the Dr. Walter Long Veterinary Technology Teaching Clinic; and other special ad hoc assignments as requested at the administrative unit, college/division, institute, and/or university level. This position will also assist with recruiting, publicity, and facility tours for prospective students.

• Veterinary Technician degree from an AVMA accredited program
• Nebraska Veterinary Technician license or ability to obtain licensure within six months of hire.
• Three years of recent practical experience in Veterinary Medicine.
• Practical experience in a veterinary practice.
• Previous teaching experience
• Experience with stock dog training
• Membership in the Nebraska Veterinary Technician Association and/or National Veterinary Technician Association
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
