Department Description:

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Social Work Behavioral Health Springboard (BHS) program is designed to provide clinical consultation, support and training for professionals working in public mental health and substance use disorder programs. The BHS also provides a Specialty in Substance Use and Addiction Studies for MSW students, onsite support regarding clinical management and clinical supervision training for substance use and mental health professionals. BHS has worked with state human service agencies, private providers, local area mental health and substance use authorities, psychiatric hospitals, advocacy groups and university behavioral healthcare departments. BHS works substantially under contract with the NC Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services (NC MHDDSAS) to further enhance the Division’s mission to provide people with, or at risk of, mental illness, developmental disabilities and substance problems and their families the necessary prevention, intervention, treatment services and supports they need to live successfully in communities of their choice.

Position Description:


The position will coordinate applications, manage the inflow of applications (online and mail), and process the applications. The position will assist applicants in navigating the online and mail application processes and process pending applications. The position will maintain the Program databases (Excel and Access) and manage electronic files. The position will oversee the Program Training schedule for Technical Assistance Team visits and ensure Trainer Certifications are up to date. The position will process checks (application fees) for deposit and coordinate logistics for the Program. The position will coordinate the course submission process and provide administrative functions (including research, the printing of certificates, etc.) for the Project Director. The position will perform any other assigned duties for the program or BHS. This is a permanent full-time, time-limited position and is 100% grant funded.
Principal Functions:
35% Manage and process applications.
25% Customer service & coordinating program logistics.
25% Manage database, electronic files, training schedule, and track trainer certifications.
15% Administrative support functions & other assigned duties.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel, Word
Intermediate skills using Microsoft Access and Moodle LMS
Experience working with persons with Mental Health or Substance Abuse disorders.
Two years previous experience in a clerical role.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and experience working with persons with significant mental health and substance use disorders.
