The School of Nursing at Western Carolina University (WCU) invites applications for a 12-month, fixed-term faculty position in the School of Nursing. Anticipated begin work date is August 1, 2021. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until a candidate has been selected for hire.
The BSN program is located at the Western Carolina University Biltmore Park instructional site in Asheville, North Carolina. Some teaching responsibilities may be at off-site locations and/or during evening hours. Faculty member may also be expected to teach on the main WCU Cullowhee, NC campus location.
Candidates interested in an academic career with a focus on teaching, service, and scholarly pursuit are strongly encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will have an enthusiasm for pre-licensure nursing, an interest in scholarship and education and the flexibility to teach in several areas of the curriculum, though the greatest current teaching need is in the accelerated BSN program on the Biltmore Park campus in Asheville.
The School of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The School of Nursing is housed on two campuses, the main campus in Cullowhee and Asheville, NC. The Cullowhee campus supports the traditional BSN program while the Asheville location houses the Accelerated BSN and graduate nursing programs.
Successful candidates will possess outstanding communication skills, evidence of scholarly activity, teach and develop online and traditional courses, advise students, participate on committees and in official activities of the School, College and University. Other responsibilities include teaching courses primarily in Asheville, supervising student clinical experiences, and teaching in the skills and simulation laboratory.Carnegie statement:

Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution and a minimum of five (5) years of working experience as a registered nurse.Preferred Qualifications:
Preference for applicants that have taught one to three years in a School of Nursing with teaching experience in nursing foundations and medical-surgical nursing.
There is a preference for the applicant to be doctorally-prepared in nursing or another related field.Position Type:
