Job Summary:

Collaborate with faculty colleagues to support efforts to prepare students for challenging and socially significant careers in fields dedicated to improving human function. This professional-track faculty member will teach primarily undergraduate courses in Psychology, though teaching of some graduate (master's level) coursework in Psychology may be required as well. Additional responsibilities may include student academic advising; engaging in department committees and other kinds of service; and conducting research and scholarship activities sufficient to enrich and inform teaching, demonstrate professional competence, and meet requirements for graduate faculty status (where appropriate). This is a professional-track position. Summer appointment is not guaranteed and is contingent upon University need.

Minimum Education and Experience:

-Doctorate approved by the University and recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as appropriate to the area of Psychology;

-Ability in the discipline and clear promise of teaching excellence as evidenced in evaluation by peers, department head, and college dean;

-A record of scholarly activity beyond that required for completion of the terminal degree.

-Must possess the minimum credential standards of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), which include at least 18 graduate semester credit hours in the subject area or suitable approved justifications.

Preferred Experience:

• Doctorate in an established subfield of Psychology;
• Experience working with students from historically underserved populations;
• Graduate training that would qualify an applicant to teach in one or more of the following areas: behavioral statistics, behavioral research methods, biopsychology, history of psychology, or industrial/organizational psychology.
• Experience with virtual/remote instruction.

Job Duties:

• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Psychology, including face-to-face, web-enhanced, and online courses (30 workload credits per academic year; 8 to 10 courses over Fall/Spring).
• If a professional track faculty member teaches five courses equivalent to three workload credits each in a long semester they are only expected to participate in ordinary university service activities (such as attending faculty meetings, attending graduation and serving on a college or departmental committee if needed) and scholarship activities to enrich and inform teaching, demonstrate professional competence, and meet requirements for graduate faculty status, accreditation, certification and licensure where appropriate.

• Additional responsibilities may include student academic advising; engaging in university, department, and community committees and other kinds of service; and conducting research and scholarship activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
