The committee will provide support, make connections within their sectors, and help ensure that the continued work of The Center aligns with its original purpose.

Responsibilities include:

  • Strategic development and execution of academic and co-curricular experiences that will enhance students’ community involvement, social capital, civic knowledge, and skill development for respectful and meaningful community engagement
  • Oversee faculty and staff development for experiential and service learning
  • Develop partnerships with area agencies and organizations to promote greater collaboration between the college and the community
  • Promote service initiatives and increase campus awareness of community needs and social issues in mid-Michigan
  • In collaboration with campus partners, develop, oversee, and execute experiences for students, faculty, and staff on and off campus that will have a positive impact on the community
  • Manage a portfolio of relationships with organizations that are pipelines to internships, civic engagement, student leadership development, and volunteer opportunities
  • Partner with Student Affairs to identify and develop volunteer and community service opportunities for student service organizations
  • Collaborate with faculty to identify and select potential service-learning opportunities that currently exist in courses
  • Supervise the facility, resources, budget, and overall activities of The Center
  • Seek grant funding as appropriate to support the activities of the initiative
  • Develop and oversee assessment plans; produce reports for the campus community on an annual basis

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree required, terminal degree preferred
  • Five years of relevant experience working in higher education, non-profit organization, or public agency
  • Strong communication skills (interpersonal and written)
  • Capability to connect and build relationships with constituents throughout the campus and local communities
  • Ability to articulate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Experience creating, managing, and assessing events and/or programs, particularly those involving experiential and service learning
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with community-based organizations, including faith-based and multicultural organizations

Qualified candidates should submit a letter of application that addresses the skills required for the position, a curriculum vitae or resume, an Alma College Employment Application and the names, addresses, phone numbers, and nature of relationship of three professional references via email to: Olivia Gibson, Administrative Assistant, Alma College, careers@alma.edu.
