Job Summary
Working with the Research Services Department and under the supervision of the Special Collections Librarian, the Special Collections Assistant participates in the processing of both physical and digital special collections; supervises and trains student assistants; develops finding aids; participates in an automated ticketing workflow; and loads and pulls materials from the automated retrieval collection.

Responsibilities
  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University
  • Assists with the arrangement, description, and discoverability of physical and digital materials through the development of finding aids and other descriptive tools
  • Documents project workflows by creating, assigning, and responding to tickets in the automated ticketing platform.
  • Assists the Special Collections Librarian with priority-setting, project management, and long-range planning for Special Collections
  • Assigns, pulls, stores, and assists with troubleshooting for Special Collections materials stored in the Automated Retrieval System.
  • Shares responsibility for monitoring environmental conditions in the Special Collections Processing Area and Automated Retrieval System
  • Monitors Special Collections supplies and equipment and provides input on planning for future supply and equipment needs
  • Assists patrons with Special Collections information and reproduction requests as needed
  • Supervises student assistants to support these activities as needed

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelors degree

Required Experience
  • One year of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience with Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Drive, Calendar, etc.)
  • Experience or knowledge of special collections, archives, libraries, or similar educational settings.

Proposed Salary
$30,900 - $37,800
