Position Highlights:

There are 1-2 postdoctoral researcher positions immediately open in Dr. Haining Zhu's lab. The research program focuses on RNA metabolism, stress granules, and protein translation in the context of neurodegenerative diseases. New directions include the role of RNA binding proteins in other human health conditions including cancer and COVID-19. The project uses protein biochemistry, cell biology and microscopic analysis, mammalian cell culture, and rodent models. Enthusiastic scientists with relevant experience are encouraged to apply. Interested candidates must have a Ph.D. and a strong background in biochemistry, molecular biology and cell biology. Previous experience in neurodegenerative diseases is a plus. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated track record of project completion and relevant first author publications.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Carry out hypothesis-driven research projects, generate and analyze data, and evaluate progress in multiple inter-related projects.
  • Engage in scientific discussion, hypothesis generation, experimental design and troubleshooting.
  • Work independently.
  • Publish in quality academic journals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology or related areas.
  • Successful candidates will have a demonstrated track record of project completion and relevant first author publications.

Preferred Qualifications:

*Previous experience in neurodegenerative diseases and/or cancer is a plus.*Expertise in biochemistry, molecular biology and cell biology skills.
