Position Highlights:

The University of Arizona is recruiting for a CommunicationsSpecialist to lead and coordinate the strategic and day-to-day communicationsactivities for the Financials Modernization project, an initiative to replacethe University’s financial information system. The Communications Specialistwill be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive marketingand communications strategy to inform and engage the University community aboutthe project. This role reports to the Manager, Initiatives and Outreach, butwill be closely collaborating with the Financial Modernization project team andproject steering committee, as well as, integrate with the Financial Services’communications team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to communications strategy and develop a comprehensive communications plan
  • Creates strong and impactful communication products and vehicles for Financials Modernization project awareness with key campus audiences
  • Works closely with Project Manager, project team and subject matter experts to develop effective communications that reflect change management and end-user training best practices
  • Promotes Financials Modernization project events, including super user trainings, focus groups, campus open forums, listening sessions, and other project-related events
  • Develop a stakeholder-wide online presence strategy and deploy online presence
  • Produce effective and compelling cross-media marketing content to drive awareness, stakeholder buy-in, and generate feedback
  • Maintain the communications plan throughout the project lifecycle
  • Collaborate with the project team to identify all triggers, such as key events/milestones/deliverable dates that will require communication
  • Define a process for handling ad hoc inquiries
  • Develop and maintain a library of project information
  • Translate technical subject matter into actionable terms for a general audience
  • Utilize social media platforms to engage campus audiences and analyze engagement metrics, data, and ROI to measure campaign success
  • Work with project and institution stakeholders to develop and produce project website content

  • Organized, enthusiastic, and results-oriented
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills are essential, including ability to present concepts verbally
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media
  • Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively across teams to complete tasks to meet team objectives as necessary
  • Excellent active listening skills
  • Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Tools- Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel
  • Strong time-management and organization skills, including attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a work environment constrained by deadlines and multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work exceptionally welland effectively in a team environment

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required – Communications, Business Administration, Journalism, MIS or Marketing OR, any equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required
  • Minimum of five years of experience in strategic communications, marketing, or other corporate experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with communications in higher education environment
  • Experience delivering communications around enterprise-wide system implementation
  • Experience presenting creative ideas visually, verbally, and in writing to diverse audiences Experience writing grammatically correct, compelling, on-brand and platform-appropriate communications across multi-channel platforms
  • Experience with MS Office Suite, including MS SharePoint
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), MailChimp (or other bulk email applications), and Drupal (or similar web content management system)
