Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Middle School Mathematics Teacher, Boca Raton, FL.

Summary of Responsibilities Include:

  • Identify and apply relevant educational research-based instructional strategies in order to develop engaging and differentiated lessons, assignments and assessments.
  • Utilize relevant technology and resources for optimal engagement and differentiation.
  • Provide timely, appropriate, and actionable feedback to students.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Maintain and utilize accurate and comprehensive documentation and evidence of students' progress and development.
  • Support student mathematics events and competitions, as needed.
  • Communicate regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
  • Manage student behavior through positive behavior interventions and support.
  • Support social emotional strategies to facilitate student development in self and social awareness and responsible decision-making.
  • Participate and engage in professional learning that supports professional growth and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Participate in lab school initiatives that inform math instructional practices, instructional materials and resources.
  • Engage in research activities to further the school’s mission and to generate advancements in teaching and learning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required at time of application required.

Must hold a valid Florida Educator’s Certificate in Middle Grades Mathematics 5-9 or Mathematics 6-12 or valid Florida Department of Education Statement of Eligibility in Middle Grades Mathematics 5-9 or Mathematics 6-12.

Must possess knowledge and skills required to provide instruction to secondary students in Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra II.

The candidate selected for the position will be required to have fingerprinting done at the FAU Police Department and a background check done by the school. This position is subject to funding.
