Assistant Research Professor

The Department of Pharmacology has an opening for a full time Assistant Research Professor. Faculty in the research professor series are expected to demonstrate excellence in research, as independent or collaborative investigators. The Assistant Research Professor will be responsible for working with colleagues in the department of Pharmacology, the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome, and the wider CU Anschutz campus to maintain and enhance current research projects as well as establish new lines of inquiry. The successful applicant will have extensive laboratory and computational skills that enable rigorous and integrative analysis of multiple data types including multi-omics and lower-throughput validation and hypothesis testing.Salary and Benefits:The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $85,000.00 to 100,000.00. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Postdoctoral training in both laboratory-based and bioinformatics/genomics analyses.
- At least five years of experience analyzing next generation sequencing and genomics data, including development of analysis pipelines/workflows.
- At least five years of experience in training and supervision of laboratory-based and bioinformatics scientists.
- Publication record with evidence of expertise in both laboratory-based and bioinformatics/genomics analyses, including as a senior author.
- Track record of productive research in one of more of the following areas: transcription and gene regulation, oncogenic or tumor-suppressive transcription factors, Down syndrome, Immunology.
- Strong programming skills in common tools, languages, and packages used for bioinformatic and statistical analysis and (e.g. Unix-based command line and shell scripting, R, Python).
- Five or more years of experience with high-performance and/or cloud computing environments.
- Demonstrable efforts in developing and running reproducible computational analysis workflows.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Ability to train, supervise, and mentor graduate students and postdoctoral scientists.
- Ability to assemble, revise, and successfully publish scientific manuscripts.
- Ability to present scientific findings at meetings and conferences.
- Ability to design and write funding applications.
- Ability to establish and maintain productive scientific collaborations.
