Department Summary:

Seeking a student assistant to perform entry level accounting work within the Controller’s Accounting department on the UNT Dallas campus. This position will help develop office and financial skills while applying knowledge acquired in the classroom to real-world situations, as well as gain the skills and experience that is necessary to prepare the student for a successful career in accounting.

Position Summary:

EXAMPLES OF WORK

• Work under supervision of other accountants and department manager
• Compose and input journal entries into PeopleSoft
• Review, reconcile, and enter financial aid book vouchers into EIS
• Perform balance sheet account reconciliations
• Assist with the preparation of ad hoc and other internal reports
• Enter assets into Asset Management and assist Facilities, IT, and Police with tracking of physical inventory
• Ensure the completion of assigned tasks in line with established deadline

Minimum Qualifications:

Currently enrolled UNT Dallas in good standing and making satisfactory progress toward completion of a degree or certification program.

Applicants must possess the following:
•Excellent customer service skills, as well as effective oral and written communication skills.
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
•Some knowledge of office practices and procedures.
•Demonstrated ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions accurately.
•Good interpersonal skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural and social backgrounds.
•Responsible, reliable and punctual.
•Ability to learn assigned tasks readily, to adhere to prescribed routines, and to develop some skill in the operation of common office equipment.
•A high level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, enthusiasm, and confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

Enrolled in Accounting, Business and/or Finance with a minimum of 30 hours completed

Work Schedule:

Ability to work a minimum of 12 hours and a maximum of 19 hours per week. Hours of operation are 8:00am and 5:00pm Monday thru Friday.
