Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

In alignment with the mission, programs and initiatives of MSU Extension, delivers research-based information to program participants through various methods and/or provides support and coordination of MSU Extension programs.

Unit Position Summary

Michigan State University Extension 4-H Presque Isle County invites applicants for the position of 4-H Summer Rec Program Director. This individual will use the week prior to the start date of the program to plan activities, educational field trips and projects for the staff to carry out with registered youth during the daily summer recreation program. The director will coordinate with the 4-H program coordinator to purchase necessary supplies and materials. The director will have direct responsibility for the staff and students during the daily programming and will report to the 4-H program coordinator on any accident, discipline or other relevant occurrences during the daily program. The Director will also work to create and implement a contingency plan in the event that the program needs to go virtual. At the time of a virtual program, the director will work on zoom, help to create kits and possibly help to package and distribute food. The director will wear a mask at all times and be responsible for safe operations in relation to the written Summer 2021 Safe Operation Plan.

Position Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call.

  • Proven ability in establishing and working with a diverse network of constituents and community members across race, gender, socioeconomic class, disabilities and other differences to assist with program development and outreach.
  • Understanding of and ability to implement Civil Rights principles and compliance standards.
