Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a FUSE Student Researcher - Psychological Science on the Gainesville campus. Hired applicants will actively assist with a psychological research study over eight weeks in Summer 2021. This includes a literature review, creating visual stimuli, programing experimental conditions, interacting one-on-one with participants, organizing and analyzing data, and generating logical conclusions. Conference-style abstracts and presentations will be created. The study examines a category of optical illusions known as color spreading illusions. The purpose is to learn more about how color spreading illusions impact perceptual organization, i.e., the way in which our visual system assembles individual pieces of information to create our rich perception of the world. The research assistant will join the FUSE program to conduct focused and meaningful research, scholarly and creative activities alongside a faculty researcher from May 31 - July 23, 2021.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Literature review skills.
  • Microsoft Excel skills.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Current UNG student not graduating before December 2021.
  • CITI Ethics Training: Basic/Refresher & Responsible Conduct of Research for the Social & Behavioral Sciences
  • Has experience in a research setting, e.g., interacting with participants, collecting data
Preferred Qualifications
  • Photoshop, programming skills preferred.
