The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a FUSE Student Researcher - Biology on the Dahlonega campus. The student will be handling small mammal and fish carcasses. There will be hiking once per week in difficult terrain to place these carcasses in areas around the forest along with trail cameras. Camera storage cards will be collected each week from the sites and student will be processing images and videos by entering data (i.e. observations, dates, times, etc) into a database. The research assistant will join the FUSE program to conduct focused and meaningful research, scholarly and creative activities alongside a faculty researcher from May 31 - July 23, 2021.Responsibilities
- Thaw and set out small mammal carcasses at various sites around Lumpkin County.
- Change out trail camera batteries and SD cards.
- Analyze SD cards - images and videos into an organized datasheet.
- Run data analyses.
Knolwedge, Skills & Abilities
- General ecology knowledge
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Current UNG student not graduating before December 2021.
- BIOL 3500K (ecology) required.
- Field work in the woods.
