Description
The College of Public Health seeks a versatile development professional to join its Development and Constituent Relations team. The Associate Director of Development, reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), will provide strategic support to the College’s Development, Alumni Relations and Constituent Engagement office, managing all daily operations. This position is responsible for developing and managing a multi-channel alumni engagement and donor participation giving program, in addition to writing and managing all alumni and donor communications. The position will provide new strategies to continually expand and ultimately lead to a culture of engagement and participation across the region for donors and alumni. The position will work closely with campus partners to build significant pathways for donor and alumni participation, as well as collaborate and work in conjunction with University Advancement’s Office of Alumni Relations, Annual Giving and Constituent Engagement (ACE). Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

Essential Functions:

Development Operations and Constituent Communications 40%

Direct annual giving campaigns; Deploy and manage annual fundraising strategy in partnership with CDO and Assoc. DOD; In partnership with central prospect research team, conduct research and generate prospects for follow-up and cultivation by CDO and Assoc. DOD; Oversee centralized donations processing and act as primary liaison to ensure adherence to recording procedures in the CRM system; Manage budget expenditures for annual development activities; Partner with the CDO, Assoc. DOD, and CPH Marketing and Communications team to deliver relevant and effective constituent-centric communications; Through use of existing templates, create and schedule e-communications, including newsletters, emails, and e-solicitations; Manage and monitor social media platforms pertaining to annual giving and alumni relations, specifically content shared with Linked-In and Instagram alumni groups; Leverage current social media trends to enhance the College’s ongoing communication and fundraising efforts; Collect and analyze social media and e-communication data, and create metric reports; Provide input, training, and expertise to volunteers via the use of Temple’s ProfessionOwl Network and e-communication platforms; Stay abreast of industry best practices, standards and technologies; Supervise support staff and interns as needed.

Annual Giving and Stewardship 30%

Manage, deploy, and optimize the College’s multi-channel annual giving program, including but not limited to annual giving day, crowdfunding, direct mail and digital solicitations; Develop and measure annual fundraising initiatives to acquire and retain alumni donors; Provide strategic support to improve donor retention, with special emphasis on Conwell Society renewals; Develop and implement policies relating to alumni and annual fund procedures; Utilize the University’s CRM tools and data to track and analyze annual giving trends and devise solicitation strategies based on the data results; Oversee stewardship of a high-quality donor experience through correspondence, volunteer opportunities, mailings, and acknowledgements; Direct and deploy plans annual donor impact event in partnership with CDO and event coordinator.

Alumni and Constituent Engagement 30%

Partner with the Chief Development Officer, Associate Director, and Central Partners to drive participation and meaningful engagement across the alumni life cycle; Provide leadership and operational support to the College’s Alumni Association Boards (CPHAA) and Committees; Provide oversight and strategic support for annual CPHAA professional development and mentoring initiatives, including the annual professional development symposium; Facilitate ongoing recruitment of alumni leaders for key initiatives such as DEI Speaker Series, Professional Development and Mentoring program, alumni awards, etc.; Oversee multi-channel alumni-centric communications and marketing plan; Provide input and direction on annual events in conjunction with College events coordinator; Develop processes to ensure data integrity of alumni contact and employment information in order to expand outreach opportunities; Oversee and manage the Distinguished Alumni awards and processes; Identify and develop professional affinity groups in targeted industries, communities and educational programs; Serve as a resource for departments and student clubs/organizations needing alumni support.

 

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of experience working in a development role with experience working directly with volunteers and organizational stakeholders. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Strong written and oral communication and customer service skills.

*Understanding of fundraising principles.

*Experience using social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.

*Proficiency in office software systems such as: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook

*Proven aptitude in learning new CRM database systems such as Fundraising Performance Management (FPM), Self-Service Banner & Cognos

*Ability to work independently with results and also as an integral member of a team

*Exceptional attention to detail regarding all job responsibilities

*Consistent professional presentation and communication

*Occasional night and weekend work required

Preferred:

Experience working with higher education institutions or large complex non-profit organizations in the public health or healthcare sectors.
