The IT Student Center Technician will be responsible for staffing the IT Student Center and providing services and assistance to students as necessary to facilitate greater learning and promotion of the educational values and goals of the college.



Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)


The ideal student worker will engage his or her fellow students in conversation to determine areas of concern, offer direct assistance or guidance to educational resources within the college or IT Student Center. The IT Student Center Technician will document areas of student challenge and concern, so that we can track, analyze and make improvements where necessary.

The IT Student Center Technician will be responsible for the lab equipment in the Student Center, including inventory, maintenance, and the checkout/check-in process. The IT Student Center employee will assist students with technology needs. This can be something simple such as assisting with resource access such as Netlabs, Cisco NetAcademy, Azure Dev Tools for Teaching, etc. This may also include assistance with the installation of IT based software or assistance with removing viruses and malware as well as assisting the BIT Network Administrator on classroom reimaging, system set up and configuration.

Minimum Qualifications


Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:

1. Knowledge and skill in information technology.

2. Ability to work effectively with students, instructors, and staff.

3. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

4. Ability to work with minimal supervision and to organize and prioritize work.

5. Ability to perform advanced computer functions.

6. Aptitude for accuracy and detail


Education and Work Experience Requirements:

1. Currently pursuing a WCTC Associate's degree or technical certificate. Preference will be given to those in the Information Technology field.

2. One year of related work experience to include experience with the public.

3. At least in your second semester of schooling at WCTC

Each IT Student Center Technician will be available to work a maximum of 20 hours per week. Hours are flexible and will range between 7:30 am and 8 pm Monday through Thursday. Each IT Student Center Technician will provide their availability to their supervisor in order to build a schedule for the semester
