Job Summary/Basic Function:

Online Adjunct Professor position with the School of Music.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to teaching material from approved curriculum in accordance with assigned schedule, providing detailed feedback, mentoring/challenging students to grow intellectually and spiritually, maintaining contact with students to advise on matters related to academic achievement, attendance, and behavior, and maintaining/reporting grades and attendance in accordance with university policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

Graduate or Doctoral Instruction

Doctoral degree from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in one of the following:

- Music
- Music Education
- Worship
- Church Music
- Music Performance
- Ethnomusicology
- Music Theory
- Music History

Undergraduate Instruction

Master’s degree from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in one of the following:

- Music
- Music Education
- Worship
- Church Music
- Music Performance
- Ethnomusicology
- Music Theory
- Music History

- An alternative option for undergraduate teaching is a master’s degree from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, with a minimum of 18 credit hours in one of the disciplines noted above.

Other qualifications:

- Organizational skills that facilitate the completion of assignments and tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
- Adequate interpersonal, customer service, and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to convey information.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and online Learning Management Systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

A doctoral degree AND significant professional experience establishing subject matter expertise in one of the following:

- Music
- Music Education
- Worship
- Church Music
- Music Performance
- Ethnomusicology
- Music Theory
- Music History

Other qualifications:

- Demonstrated strengths in teaching at the college level.
- Strong organizational skills that facilitate assignment/task anticipation and completion.
- Superior interpersonal, customer service, and presentation skills.
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Mastery of the Microsoft Office suite and online Learning Management Systems.
