Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in fields of English, Journalism, Business Communications, Hospitality or other related field and a minimum of one year of related experience.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to use sound judgement and work independently
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Detail-oriented with strong organizational, prioritization, multi-tasking, marketing, media relations and event-planning skillsPreferred Qualifications Experience in communication, media relations, marketing and/or event-planning.Responsibilities This position will plan, promote and coordinate special events for the Cancer Center. This will include events related to fundraising, check presentations, patient and physician-focused community goodwill events, internal communication and coordination of events. This position will be expected to ensure all events comply with fundraising policies of the University. The duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Unite the Fight: Event planning and coordination; Walker recruitment and solicitation; Primary point of contact for general inquires; Work with vendors and suppliers; Submitting invoices for payment; Recruitment, management and coordination of volunteers
  • Cancer Center Events: Managing and overseeing events on the day of, to include; problem solving, welcoming guests, directing event set-up and takedown. Coordination with the marketing and median teams to create and utilize effective marketing strategies and materials as needed for external and internal GCC events. Selection of venues, menus and guest lists.
  • Fundraising: Coordination to ensure that events comply with all fundraising policies of AU. Coordination of check presentations and other special presentations. External medial relations, social media relations, and internal event communication. Organize activities to raise funds or otherwise solicit and gather monetary donations or other gifts for an organization. May also raise awareness of the organization's work, goals, and financial needs.
  • Other Duties: Perform all other related duties/tasks as assigned.
Shift/Salary Shift: Days/M-F, Rotating schedule might be necessary.
