Description
Position SummaryUniversity Information Services (UIS) provides technical services and enterprise applications to the University of Colorado’s (CU) four campuses and the Office of the President. UIS is committed to excellence in customer service, technical expertise, and the development of enterprise applications responsible for supporting CU’s students, faculty, human resources employees, finance employees, and others.

The Senior PeopleSoft Administrator supports current PeopleSoft (PS) applications and technical systems for all University of Colorado campuses, which supports over 65,000 students and 35,000 faculty and staff. This position functions in a highly independent fashion to seek out process improvements and guide future decisions on enterprise level strategy and services provided to the University of Colorado’s campuses.

This senior-level position designs, builds, and maintains PeopleSoft development, test, and production environments for Human Capital Management (HCM), Financials and Grants, Portal, and Campus Solutions while also supporting system rollouts. This position serves as a subject matter expert regarding CU’s PeopleSoft applications and, as such, responds to and troubleshoots escalated operational issues while managing internal and external customer relationships.  The Senior PeopleSoft Administrator functions in an advanced capacity by informing and advising project managers and stakeholders about project plans and implementation, conducting technical analysis, and producing technical and strategy recommendations.

The Senior PeopleSoft Administrator is not only charged with supporting daily operations of specific PeopleSoft applications, but must also guide and work with the team to automate processes and procedures, create efficiencies, and provide quality business services to our clients and customers.

This position reports to the Associate Director of PeopleSoft and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified Staff system.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesDuties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provides technical guidance to the PeopleSoft (PS) Administration team by promoting knowledge transfer with team members, and cross-training other teams
  • Performs upgrades and updates to PeopleSoft Applications as well as the PeopleTools foundation
  • Administers PeopleSoft system architecture for production, development, and test environments
  • Executes information technology (IT) operational objectives by maintaining current systems, which includes:
    • Evaluating, recommending, testing, and installing new technology
    • Contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews
    • Preparing and completing action plans
    • Implementing production changes, quality, and customer-service standards
    • Resolving problems
    • Completing audits
    • Identifying trends
    • Determining system improvements for the PeopleSoft systems
  • Establishes system specifications by conferring with customers and team members
  • Analyzes workflow, access, information, and security requirements
  • Designs PeopleSoft systems
  • Articulates technology currency and upgrades for PeopleSoft systems, conferring with vendors and services
  • Develops, tests, evaluates, and installs enhancements and new software
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
  • Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Updates job knowledge and maintains subject matter expertise by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations
  • Works with principal business units to forecast existing workload growth and to assess new project impacts
  • Supports technically complex production and non-production environments: resolves daily issues and complex problems; maintains documentation; responsible for configuring, patching, scripting, monitoring, data security, and all aspects of system health
  • Performs daily monitoring of the PeopleSoft application including reviewing logs for the issues and ensuring that all required processes are operations.
  • Works closely with database administrators (DBA) to research and the troubleshoot performance issues

System Administration, which also houses the Office of the President, is located in the uptown neighborhood of Denver with a few smaller offices located on the campuses.  However, this position has the ability to work remotely.  Many of our departments support the educational and research missions of the four University of Colorado campuses, but System Administration is not considered a campus. What we offer:

Salary: The anticipated hiring salary range has been established at $79,000 - $105,000.

The market salary range for this position is $79,000 - $107,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or anticipated hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education, or equivalent professional experience (professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis)
  • Four (4) years of experience working with PeopleSoft applications, which includes:
    • Four (4) years of experience serving as a PeopleSoft Administrator in technically complex environments,
    • Two (2) years’ experience troubleshooting PS Queries,
    • Two (2) years’ experience administering PeopleSoft applications in UNIX platform, including shell scripting skills (KSH, Bash, Perl, etc.), and
    • Two (2) years’ experience using Integration Broker architecture and configuration
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including part of a rotational on-call status, to meet business needs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Seven (7) years of experience working with PeopleSoft applications, as indicated above
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Database Administration
    • Project Management
    • Deploying Oracle DPK’s, including Elastic Search, and Puppet automation
    • Serving as a PS Admin for PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and Enterprise Portal
    • Proven experience supporting Phire Migration Tools
