Job Summary:

The Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator is a full-time position that works under the supervision of the School of Public Affairs (SPA) Director of Marketing and Communications to recruit new students to SPA’s undergraduate and graduate academic programs, dividing time between undergraduate and graduate program recruitment at approximately 25% and 75%, respectively. The position executes strategies and plans that increase prospective inquiries, completed applications, and student enrollments, allowing the School to meet its enrollment and revenue goals. This person maintains positive relationships with university departments involved in recruiting and admissions, with other CU Denver schools and colleges, and with external institutions such as community colleges, employers, and other prospective student pipelines.

This position may occasionally travel and/or attend events at nights or on weekends.

Supervision Received: This position is supervised by the Director of Marketing and Communication.

Supervision Exercised: This position may supervise student employees.                                               

Examples of Work Performed:

  • In partnership with supervisor, develop year-long recruitment plans for target audiences of each of SPA’s undergraduate and graduate programs, with a view to increasing student diversity
  • Execute recruitment plans to reach enrollment targets for each program for each academic term (fall, spring, summer) and provide regular interim reporting using data from Slate and Tableau
  • Respond to all prospective students’ requests for information about SPA programs
  • Meet with prospective students in person, online, and by telephone to provide overview of programs and to answer questions
  • Enter, maintain, and update prospect information in Slate, including adding notes about interactions with prospects, uploading required documents into students’ applications, etc.
  • Develop and run queries in Slate to identify students’ positions in enrollment funnel and develop tactics to encourage prospective students further through the funnel
  • Work in partnership with graduate program directors to shepherd the review and decisioning of applications for graduate programs
  • Triage with CU Denver departments whenever notified about technical issues with student application portal
  • For prospective student questions outside the purview of SPA’s areas of expertise (e.g., financial aid, student billing, housing, etc.), connect prospective students with appropriate university departments
  • Regularly engage with university offices and organizations to build awareness of and pipeline into SPA programs (e.g., Undergraduate Admissions, Transfer, Graduate School, Advising, Career Services, Office of Digital Education, Student Government Association, other student organizations, staff from other schools and colleges, etc.)
  • Work with supervisor to develop compelling messaging and materials for use in student recruitment, including Slate e-communications, print materials, social media campaigns, and website content
  • Engage with SPA’s academic program directors and faculty to develop program-specific content for prospective students (e.g., letters to students, videos, etc.)
  • Develop, schedule, and deliver a year-long series of prospective student informational webinars/in-person events
  • Work with faculty to coordinate class shadowing opportunities for interested prospective students
  • Provide tours of SPA’s offices, classrooms, and common areas, and partner with the Undergraduate Admissions Office to arrange for on-campus tours for students considering SPA majors
  • Provide input into the strategic use of scholarships for recruitment
  • Work with SPA Advising Team to ensure a smooth handover of students once they are matriculated each term
  • In partnership with SPA Alumni Relations & Career Services Specialist, engage with government and nonprofit employers to recruit students
  • Work with other SPA staff members engaged in outreach to develop and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders that may benefit recruitment efforts and other school priorities
  • Serve on internal SPA teams and committees relevant to the position
  • Represent SPA on relevant university committees as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned
Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $43,064 - $59,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is ineligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • At least two years of experience working in higher education student recruiting
  • Experience using applicant tracking system (ATS) and/or customer relationship management (CRM) software
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
