  • Position Description:

    TheGraduate Medical Education Secretary I will under general supervision provideall aspects of secretarial support.  Maintain calendars, coordinate activities, provide transcription,meeting minutes, arrangements for meeting and conferences, additional officeduties as required.  The Secretary I hasresponsibility for assisting the Director and Associate Dean with theday-to-day operations of the GME Office. 


    High School diploma/equivalent required. Associate Degree or higher, or equivalent work experience preferred.
    Must have a minimum of 1 year experience as a Secretary
    Must be able to type 55 WP and a good working knowledge of rules of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
    Preferred experience in medical academic position and knowledge of residency programs, Graduate Medical Education issues, and familiarity of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education requirements.
    Experience with computers and programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Photoshop, Adobe, etc.
    Knowledge of or familiarity with New Innovations.
    Knowledge of or familiarity with Banner.
    General familiarity with working with standard office equipment, i.e. scanning machines, transcription, faxes, photocopy machines, etc.
    Working knowledge of voice mail systems and ability to learn new technology as relevant
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    Able to compose correspondence (memos, letters, minutes, reports) and to perform transcription from written or dictated materials.
    Ability to perform efficiently and in a professional manner under demanding situations.
    Organizational expertise, attention to detail and deadlines essential.
    Ability to plan and organize work, both under supervision and using independent judgment under stressful situations.
    Exhibits accuracy and ability to pay attention to details.
    Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
    Ability to write legibly, speak articulately and follow directions accurately.

    Working Conditions:Works in a professional office environment with possible high stress levels. May need to work irregular hours to accommodate the residency program needs. Need to have the ability to lift 30 lbs, etc, and set up for conferences as needed. May be required to travel on a limited basis.
