  • Position Description:

    The employee will be hired on an “intermittent call-in” (i.e., part-time) position.  The employee will be 100% funded by a grant (USDA grant to Heckathorn, UT index = 206721, duration 8/1/19-7/31/2022), and will conduct research related to this grant under the supervision of Dr. Scott Heckathorn.  The employee will investigate relationships among root nitrogen (N)-uptake rate, concentration of N-uptake proteins in roots, and N concentration in plant tissue.  The employee will independently conduct experiments and collect and analyze data.

    Qualifications:

    Education/experience/licensing:

      Ph.D. in Biology or related field.Experience with plant experimental research (at least two years).Knowledge of plant nutrition.Experience with protein quantification (total protein, ELISA, western blotting).
    Communication and other skills:

      Knowledge of basic graphing skills and basic statistical analyses.

    Working Conditions:The majority of work will occur in standard laboratory settings in 3000 BO Hall, with additional work in the UT greenhouses in Wolfe Hall.
