High school graduate or equivalent with business courses; Three years administrative experience or combination of experience and/or training; standard office machines; keyboarding 50 wpm; excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated computer expertise; proficient in word processing and Excel.


College or business school courses; More than three years experience, with part at SRSU or other related experience; word processing, database, and spreadsheet computer program skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provides skilled secretarial assistance and assumes minor administrative duties within framework of established policies. Independently coordinates routine office or departmental clerical work according to established procedures and may process varied, complex or large volumes of material.

Performs tasks requiring skill in keyboarding and computer usage; may transcribe varied materials; may type correspondence, forms, statistical reports, tests, manuscripts, or proposals; composes routine correspondence and compiles reports; maintains various records and filing systems; handles and maintains confidential information; serves as receptionist; opens and routes mail; makes appointments and travel arrangements; may assist with preparation of programs or publications, maintains inventory and may order materials for department; may handle money; may maintain department webpages. Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times.

Assists with employment function; assists with applicant tracking; enters new employee data in computer; calculates prior state service for incoming full time employees; verifies that employees listed on the temporary employment form have completed new hire paperwork; communicates University policy and procedures campus wide; high degree of contact with public; prepares purchase requisitions; maintains confidential records; prepares forms, letters, memos, and complex reports.

Position is Security Sensitive.
