Job Description:

The incumbent in this position is responsible for organizing, maintaining equipment, and evaluating the material needs of the PTA Laboratory. Develop and create educational lessons and learning tools to enhance learning and assessment in PTA program courses. Set up for daily labs. Assist in laboratory courses as needed, including the patient simulation, cadaver and virtual cadaver labs. Serve as the liaison for adjunct faculty and coordinator for open lab supervisors. Assess the ongoing level of comprehension of PTA program students and keep the faculty apprised. Tutor students individually and in small groups to assist in their growth and comprehension of program material. Organize, set up and assist in competency skills checks and practical examinations. Serve as PTA Club advisor. Work closely with vendors to research and assist in the purchasing of PTA equipment.

Special Assignments:

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to self-direct and multitask using strong organizational skills. Ability to train and instruct in PTA discipline. Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Canvas) and proficiency in computerized learning technologies.

Required Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in Applied Science or equivalent applicable experience or training. Some clinical experience and/or academic teaching experience as a currently licensed Physical Therapist Assistant eligible for Virginia licensure.

Preferred Qualifications:

Significant clinical experience as a licensed PTA. Experience in academic teaching. Experience as a PTA student clinical instructor. Bachelor’s degree.
