Position Summary:
Design, develop and deliver excellent learning experience for graduate students to assist their pursuit of professional skills and fulfillment of their career aspirations. Contribute to the advancement of knowledge and practices in professions relevant to the mission of the Institute. Collaborate and serve to achieve academic excellence in the business of the Institute .


Essential Functions:


General Responsibilities:
Responsible for course and curriculum design and delivery in English-Chinese and/or Chinese-English translation and/or interpretation. Be available on campus to meet with student and colleagues during the academic year. Maintain professional currency in field of expertise. Attend and contribute to faculty meetings and committee work. Participate in events and activities that are essential to the Institute.
  • Teach up to 10 weekly contact hours
  • Work with students who have
    Chinese/English as both A/B languages
  • Hold weekly office hours


Education:
MA in translation and/ or interpretation or a relevant field required, PhD desirable

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•Near-native proficiency in both Chinese (Mandarin) and English
•High-level professional translation and/or interpretation skills
•Pedagogical expertise in teaching translation and /or interpretation


Experience:
•Extensive professional translation and/or interpretation experience in varied domains and contexts •Extensive experience teaching translation and/or interpretation implementing research-informed pedagogy •Experience working with learners who are working A>B and B>A, preferably at the graduate level
