Vice President for Student Affairs

SUNY Oswego is searching for a student-centered, visionary, servant leader who is committed to cultivating an accessible, equitable, and diverse environment to serve as their Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA). The VPSA will be the University's chief student affairs officer and oversee the following units: Auxiliary Services, Campus Life, Counseling Services, Health Services, Intercollegiate Athletics, Residence Life and Housing, and Student Conduct. The VPSA will lead a team in the collaborative creation and maintenance of a culture of care in the division student affairs, and across the other divisions of the institution.

The University

The Position
The VPSA will oversee a recently reorganized division that is actively responding to the impacts of COVID-19 and work with staff to redefine and commit to a divisional mission and vision that will carry a new strategic plan forward. Direct reports include: Assistant Vice President for Residence Life and Housing, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Dean of Students, Director of Campus Life, Director of Counseling Center, Director of Health Services, and Director of Student Conduct, and an Administrative Assistant. Due to recent retirements, some of these positions will be filled by either new hires or interim leaders at the time the new VPSA takes office.

The successful candidate will be an experienced campus professional with a deep understanding of student development and student affairs with a synergistic approach to working with colleagues across campus. Serving as a member of the President's Council, the VPSA will join an established team of senior leaders who partner closely to advance the University's mission and vision. A key task for the incoming VPSA will be to develop and advance a strategic vision for the Division of Student Affairs while also strengthening collaborations across campus boundaries. The VPSA is expected to assume office on July 1, 2021, or soon thereafter.
