College of the Sequoias Community College District is seeking a candidate to fill a one-year full-time, temporary position in Career Technology Education/Fine Arts beginning August 2021.

Job duties of the Graphic Design/Digital Art professor include providing instruction at one of the three campus and/or at off- site community campus locations, and/or online instruction using Canvas.
The faculty member will provide instruction in accordance with established course outlines while using comparative cross-cultural, multicultural, and multidisciplinary perspectives. The primary teaching assignment will be in graphic design and/or digital art. Depending on the strengths, qualifications and background of the selected candidate, the teaching assignment may include courses in the fine arts department such as digital photography or digital painting, or in the CTE graphic design department that is workforce focused.

It is also highly desirable that the candidate has experience and/or interest in curriculum development, program review, transfer articulations, equitable practices and online teaching.
Initial assignments may include evening and weekend classes, and teaching at any of the District locations in Visalia, Hanford, Tulare and/or online. College of the Sequoias welcomes all qualified candidates to apply for this unique one-year position and will consider candidates who may only be able to teach and perform their duties remotely. Additional job duties will include classroom equipment, supplies and facilities input, oversight on curriculum development, assessment of student learning outcomes in conjunction with fine arts/graphic design faculty, and participation in shared governance.

The candidate must meet the criteria for CTE Graphic Design, time-based media or Multi-media, but a preference would be for candidates to meet both CTE and Fine Arts criteria. The degree must generally be from an institution accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges or the equivalent.
If teaching in the CTE area (graphic design, animation, time-based media or multi-media), the minimum qualifications are:
Any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience
Any associate degree and six years of professional experience.
Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master's degree. The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment

NOTE: "Master's in Fine Arts" as used here refers to any master's degree in the subject matter of fine arts, which is defined to include visual studio arts such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, and metal and jewelry art; and also art education and art therapy. It does not refer to the "Master of Fine Arts" (MFA) degree when that degree is based on specialization in performing arts or dance, film, video, photography, creative writing or other non-plastic arts.
