Position Summary:
The Division of Enrollment Management represents the Offices of Enrollment Management, Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships and the University Registrar. These key functional offices support the campus goals to recruit, retain and provide a first-in-class education to the most talented students, regardless of background. The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships is a key contributor to student success and student access in higher education, administering all types of financial assistance for eligible students demonstrating financial need, academic merit, and/or other merit factor(s). This includes, but is not limited to scholarships, grants, loans, and/or work-study awards.
Under general supervision, independently leads and supervises the counseling unit and the financial aid counseling staff. Evaluates the eligibility for and appropriateness of all financial aid processed through the UCI financial aid office and formulates procedures for functional area to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely delivery of student aid from all federal, state, university and outside sources. Analyzes complicated regulations and participates in the development of the UCI financial aid office policy and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state and university regulations and to support departmental objectives. Holds expertise in all Title IV programs. Monitors employee performance and provides direction and assistance thru counseling and performance evaluations.

$62,400/yr.

Required:
7-10 years of directly related professional experience.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Advanced knowledge of policies, regulations, and practices for awarding financial aid. Advanced knowledge of University policies, processes, and procedures, including those related to supervising employees. Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Ability to interpret complex policies and develop procedures to ensure compliance. Possesses and uses strong customer service orientation skills, interpersonal skills & social perceptiveness. Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills along with active listening, persuasion, and negotiation skill. Advanced problem identification, critical thinking, and problem solving skills; judgment and decision-making ability. Organizational skills and ability to prioritize work for self and others to meet deadlines. Possesses strong project management skills. Ability to assess processes and implement improvements. Proficiency with standard office software, internet, and email applications. Experience using complex databases. Working knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs. Ability to maintain security and confidentiality of information and records Skill to compose and edit written and analytical reports to be clear, concise, and factually and grammatically correct.
Preferred:
Master's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Ability to define specifications for database programming. Strong presentation skills across multiple delivery methods for a diverse array of audiences and audience sizes. Knowledge of Institutional Need Analysis System (INAS).
Special Conditions Required:
Occasional/seasonal nights and weekends required. Successfully complete/pass a US Department of Justice background check.
