Responsibilities

This advanced level position will advise and assist faculty and staff in pre-award and post-award non-financial sponsored research, instruction and public service activities from public sources. Such activities associated with this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Proposal preparation, review, submission and tracking
  • Reviewing, negotiating, and processing basic and complex agreements and contracts and grant awards with external sponsors
  • Project programmatic close-out
  • Preparing official communications
  • Conducting pre-award training to staff and university campus
  • Coordinating and assisting with complex level special projects as assigned
  • Mentoring staff, supervising subordinates, performing annual staff evaluations, approving leave requests, and coordinating workflow on a rotating basis
  • Assist with the development of policies and procedures
Qualifications
  • Master's degree and two year of experience; or a Bachelor's degree and four years experience, or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.
  • (Note: Higher education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
  • Experience with attention to detail, meeting project deadlines, and working independently.
  • Experience with the review and negotiation of contracts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret state, federal, and sponsoring agencies rules, regulations, policies, and laws regarding sponsored research.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment and to interact with people at all levels diplomatically, tactfully, and professionally.

Note: This position requires successful completion of the eSPEAR certification series within the first six months of the start date.

Preferred
  • Experience with contract review and negotiation
  • Experience with federal contracting and Federal Acquisition Regulations
  • Experience with SBIRs/STTRs

Soft Money Funded Position

This is a soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University.

Schedule

If not otherwise specified, schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
