Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, a fully-affiliated teaching site of the University of Toronto, is seeking an interventional academic psychiatrist for a full-time academic position within the Department of Psychiatry. The academic job description within the Temerty Faculty of Medicine would be Clinician-Investigator. The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2021.

At present, the Sunnybrook Department of Psychiatry, a department that provides psychiatric care to patients across the lifespan, possesses great expertise in circuit-based treatment for complex mood and anxiety disorders such as treatment-refractory major depression, OCD and PTSD. There is strong-cross-disciplinary collaboration between the Sunnybrook Departments of Psychiatry, the Division of Neurology and Neurosurgery as well as the Department of Medical Imaging within Sunnybrook’s Harquail Centre for Neuromodulation.

The recruited psychiatrist will provide clinical care and education in neuromodulation for complex mood and anxiety disorders. They will conduct independent research in biomarker development and validation, mechanism of network disruption in complex mood and anxiety disorders and therapeutic trials using image-guided neuromodulation modalities such as rTMS and high frequency focused ultrasound.

The successful applicant must hold an MD PhD degree and be eligible for a Clinical Full-Time appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. They must have, or be eligible for, certification in Psychiatry with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as well as licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The successful candidate is required to have graduate training in research pertaining to both brain imaging and neuromodulation and dedicated expertise in advanced brain imaging. They should possess strong clinical skills with a capacity for team-building and fostering multi-disciplinary collaboration.

Salary is approximately $350,000/year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
