Job Description:

Offer is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.


The student in this position will work with rare, sometimes fragile, and, in some instances, unique materials that cannot be replaced. It is important that workers understand that. Will assist in the general maintenance of the collection, including, but not limited to, shelving materials. Will also complete projects from creating catalog entries and cards, finding aids and labeling for materials to be housed in archival boxes. In addition, may assist with research and the preparation of exhibits as well as various aspects of the Abernethy lecture series. At times, may be asked to monitor researchers using Special Collections materials.

The student must exhibit keen attention to detail; be able to work independently; be dependable; and exercise sound judgment.

Archives or library experience and an interest in American literature are useful.
