The University of Tennessee Foundation is seeking a Director of Development for the Haslam College of Business in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Director of Development for the Haslam College of Business works under the direction of the Senior Director and with the Executive Director and the Dean of the college, associate deans, department heads, faculty and other staff and external constituencies to further the college’s fundraising efforts.  The Director implements the strategic direction set forth for the college—which includes, but is not limited to, identifying, cultivating, strategizing, soliciting, negotiating, and stewarding donor prospects for both private and corporate gifts/grants/pledges. This position will maintain a significant prospect portfolio working with some of the university’s most generous alumni and friends. It is anticipated that this position will make 180+ visits, drive 30-40 major gift proposals at six figures or more, and close gifts exceeding $2 million annually.

The Foundation is an interdependent nonprofit corporation that enriches the lives of the students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the University of Tennessee through alumni engagement, financial stewardship and private investments.

Qualifications
Qualifications: Candidate should have a bachelor’s degree and five years of development or closely related experience. Proven success in professional or higher education fundraising, sales and marketing, or a related field is essential. The ideal candidate will be highly supportive of and committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Skills & Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communications skills are necessary.  Strong presentation skills, self-confidence and motivation, attentiveness to detail, sensitivity to the needs of diverse constituencies, and a strong, goal-oriented work ethic are required.  A proven ability to prioritize and manage complex projects and to work in a fast-paced team environment and the ability and willingness to travel extensively are necessary.  Aggressive sales mentality with the ability to provide strategic leadership and supervision of the college’s development efforts.
