A full-time research associate 1 position is available in the Department of Food Science. This position externally funded and continued employment contingent upon funding. The researcher will assist in the improvement of food crops through genetic engineering. This position also provides support for departmental and institutional projects requiring sensory evaluation. Conducts work on sensory evaluation projects with external sponsors, including development of questionnaires, programming of computer for data collection, sample preparation, performs data analyses and creates reports for project sponsors. A qualified candidate must be proficient in performing PCR, food preparation, preparation of media and buffers, multivariate statistics, and other tasks as needed. 


  • Master’s degree in a STEM field or a bachelor’s degree and 3+ years experience in relevant lab research.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with publications, experience, excellent problem-solving skills, and considerable drive and motivation.
  • Working knowledge of basic statistical methods and proficiency in statistical software (R, SAS, JMP).Further, the position requires excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work in a highly interdisciplinary team-based environment.
