Position Description:
Under the direction of the Director of Community Engagement the Community Projects & Student Support Coordinator will project manage the University of California Office of the President's (UCOP) Certificate Completion Grant. The UCLA Extension proposal addressed three areas of high need and growth in the workforce: substance use disorder counseling; data science; early childhood education. Three certificates offered by UCLA Extension prepare students for these jobs the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling Certificate, Data Science Certificate and Early Childhood Education - Associate Teacher Certificate. The proposal outlines a plan to offer these three certificates to a broader, more diverse audience, with supportive funding. The goal is to extend our reach to a more diverse population so they can access these certificate programs without financial barriers.

This position includes organizing recruitment activities for prospective students, collaborating with community partners, and supporting the academic and administrative departments at UNEX to implement the grant.

The Coordinator provides vital support in the following areas: conducting outreach activities, maintaining communication with community partners, event and course planning and development; implementation of marketing strategies; budget management; and the position collaborates with academic units to plan and implement the certificate programs for the cohorts of students funded by the UCOP grant. In addition, the position will provide pre-enrollment advising and support, as needed, to ensure student retention and success in their certificate program.

Main responsibilities include supporting the academic departments with managing the day-to-day course administration and implementation from start to finish, ensuring that all deadlines are met and that students and instructors have a high quality experience. This includes but is not limited to communication with community partners, assisting in student enrollment, students and instructors about all aspects of course implementation; programming courses in the Course Management System; ordering textbooks, audiovisual equipment, and implementing course evaluations, data management and providing support to students throughout their certificate experience and experiential learning including internship placement support. Will also provide support with potential employers and corporate sponsors, as needed. Will follow-up with students to track progress and job attainment post-graduation. Additionally, provide support to community engagement programs and initiatives of the Dean's Office.
