Responsibilities

Claflin University invites applications for the position of Assistant to Associate Professor for the Nursing Department. We are seeking a tenure-track faculty member to teach in our undergraduate and graduate nursing programs (Family Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Leader tracks)Major responsibilities are in the areas of Teaching/Learning, Professional Growth, and Service to the College and Community Effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources including providing informed feedback and critique in a thoughtful, well-written and timely manner. Optimizing the online environment to be conducive to student learning by developing creative, challenging, and evidence-based learning opportunities. Uses learning assessment information to improve teaching and curriculum; participates in quality improvement initiatives to meet program and institutional goals. Participates in a culture of assessment of academic integrity, effectiveness and doctoral quality teaching and learning.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a Doctoral Degree in Nursing or master’s degree in nursing with a Doctoral Degree in a content area relevant to nursing education; or master’s degree in nursing with progression toward completion of a doctoral degree.  Degree completion expected within 3 years of hire.  All degrees must be from an accredited college/university. The candidate must hold a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse and 3 to 5 years current or recent nursing leadership experience.  He/she must be able to provide documentation of scholarly activity such as research, implementation of evidence-based practice initiatives, leading data-driven quality improvement efforts, provide evidence of proficiency within an online learning modality, with special consideration given to those with previous online course development experience.  Experience or course work relating to curriculum development, course-creation, and/or designing significant improvements to courses or curricula is required.  The successful candidate must possess professional skills in inspiring students through coaching, modeling, evaluation, feedback, and direct instruction.
