Applications are being accepted for the following vacancies for the Fall 2021 semester on the Faculty staff of Hudson Valley Community College, Troy, New York.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Associate degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college in technical field of study, and three years’ professional experience in the welding trade.
Ability to read engineering drawings with ASME Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and AWS welding symbols. Plan welding operations, set up and operate welding equipment including welding machines, CNC plasma tables and track burners. Perform bench and assembly operations. Conduct part inspection using precision instruments. Ability to use CAD software.  Applicant should have good communication skills and knowledge of Microsoft office products. Prior college level teaching experience or equivalent industry teaching experience is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum qualifications plus participation in a NY State or Federal DOL accredited trade apprenticeship e.g. machinist, ironworker, millwright apprenticeship. Bachelor of Science in STEM subject. Certified Welding Inspector credentials. Ability to operate machine tools including lathes, milling machines and drill presses.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES:  This vacancy announcement is to identify skilled instructors of modern welding and fabricating processes who may be called upon to teach introductory or advanced, hands-on welding and fabricating processes lab courses of the Welding Fabrication Technology degree program. Some courses will be taught during evening hours, between 5PM and 11PM.     

•    Provide instruction in areas such as safety, use of hand tools and precision measuring instruments, cutting tools, welding equipment and material properties.
•    Evaluate student performance.
•    Assure cleanliness and orderliness of WFT lab facilities utilized.
•    Attendance at Department Meetings, Advisory Board meetings, continuing of education and professional development is encouraged.   
•    At the direction of the Department Chairperson, faculty shall perform duties as specified in the Faculty Contract.
