Position Summary:

Since its inception in 1985, Indiana Wesleyan University’s (IWU) adult education business programs have graduated more than 30,000 students. Today, IWU’s DeVoe School of Business (DSB) currently serves 3,000 students pursuing undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral studies at 15 regional education centers in three Midwestern states and online. To further IWU’s mission as a Christ-centered academic community committed to changing the world by developing students in character, scholarship, and leadership, DSB is seeking an accomplished scholar/practitioner to join its faculty at the rank of associate professor.

The selected candidate will serve as a subject matter expert in information technology, information systems, information security, cybersecurity, or data analytics; teach online undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level courses; be active in scholarship; and be a research and teaching resource to cross-functional teams who design and deliver accelerated degree programs for adult students. He/she will provide thought leadership that positively influences the quality and relevance of the DSB’s portfolio of curricular offerings, both current and under development. The ideal candidate will need to be forward-thinking, being able to adapt to the changing landscape of higher education. This includes having an innovative mindset, being open to change, willing to take calculated risks, and able to improve upon failures.

This critical faculty position is a remote, 12-month, full-time appointment, and a suitable portion of the standard annual teaching load for DSB faculty will be directed to accommodate the aforementioned priorities.

Reporting Relationships:

This position reports to the Assistant Dean, DeVoe School of Business.

Education Requirements:

    Qualified candidates must possess a terminal degree in information technology, information systems, computer science, information security, cybersecurity, data analytics, or a closely related field and possess relevant academic and professional experience. Additional certifications relating to academic accreditation, e.g., ACBSP evaluator, or scripting languages, e.g., R, Python, is preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities:

    Demonstrate a mature personal faith in Jesus Christ and willingly embraces the theological and lifestyle commitments of The Wesleyan Church.Teach DeVoe classes online as assigned, to include undergraduate, graduate and doctorate.Maintain an active portfolio of research and participate in scholarly activities related to his/her scope of discipline.Assist the Dean’s Office to ensure programs are conducted in accordance with the academic policies of the university and institutional and program accrediting bodies.Provide oversight to ensure that curricula development, instruction, and program assessment are conducted with academic integrity and rigor as assigned.Serve as the DSB representative on various committees, councils, and staff development meetings as assigned.Represent the programs, School, and University within the marketplace and academy.Participate in faculty development and university faculty meetings.Travel to the main campus in Marion, IN for faculty meetings and commencement ceremonies.Collaborate with other Colleges, Schools, and operational departments including the Center for Learning and Innovation, Educational Partnerships, Talent Ladder, and regional Education Centers in matters of common concern.Perform all other duties as assigned.

Experience

    A vibrant Christian faith exemplified by regular church involvement, active Christian service, adherence to IWU’s Community Lifestyle Standard, and a heartfelt calling to endeavors that further the application of biblical precepts to professional education. Substantial knowledge and experience with distributed educational and faculty models, experimental learning, and disaggregated faculty roles.An understanding and an appreciation for the interests of working adults who teach and learn in the digital age.Knowledge an openness to a variety of innovative educational models.A rich understanding of technical knowledge as well as business application and integration of information technology and systems in various environments is critical.A professional dossier of recognized accomplishments in industry or practice.Preparation for supervising graduate and/or doctoral student research, including service on dissertation committees.Consistent with IWU’s intentional development of a culturally diverse community, track record of demonstrating a culturally responsive and sensitive demeanor in working in an academic community that is diverse.We are seeking applicants who have demonstrated a commitment to building and cultivating diversity through leadership, teaching and/or service.
