The UMKC Institute for Human Development, University Center on Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (IHD) is an applied research and training center for human services designed to exemplify the University’s goals of engaged scholarship and community partnerships. Its functions include interdisciplinary training, applied research, community program development and information dissemination.

Job Description

The IHD is seeking a Research Assistant to join the research and evaluation team. The Research Assistant will engage in research, evaluation, training, and demonstration activities associated with sponsored and other research projects. Specific tasks include data collection and processing, organizing and drafting materials for research papers and/or presentation, and development, implementation, and evaluation of projects. The position may require regular interaction with community and university-based research partners and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position will work on projects related to health equity, community based participatory research and the health and well-being of marginalized groups (including communities of color, people with disabilities, and more). The Research Assistant will:

  • Assist in data collection and analysis from surveys, focus groups, interviews, etc.
  • Organize meetings with community partners
  • Organize and assist in writing journal manuscripts and publications
  • Fulfill contract and grant activities as needed
  • Organize training videos and resources
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree is required. Area of study in social science fields, public health, sociology, anthropology, psychology, etc., preferred.

Salary

$40,000-$45,000/year commensurate with experience/qualifications
