Position SummaryResponsible for providing innovative vision, strategy, and leadership as well as the coordination, monitoring and reporting of the program comprising technology projects including discovery, design, development and implementation on all campuses. Leads stakeholders and IT professionals in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing IT projects.

As an innovator and evangelist, develops a shared vision with others to make the dream a reality, understands the “business of higher education”, leads without formal authority by building relationships and demonstrating a servant leader approach, knowledgeable about technology and its application for organizational improvement, develops alliances, and skilled in outcomes assessment to ensure quality and success of the program.

Guides and mentors IT stakeholders in order to create, perform, manage, and optimize enterprise-wide IT services or operational processes. Monitors the project life cycle from beginning to end and communicates frequently with executive stakeholders to create trust and transparency between IT and functional units. Applies industry accepted methodologies to ensure adherence to standards and requirements and to provide stakeholders with continual reports on progress and performance. This position reports to the Chief Information Officer and is a member of the Information Management Team.


The work schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Flexibility is required.

Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesManages the program of IT projects by providing guidance through the use of project management tools and techniques in order to avoid project delays and to resolve such issues as they arise.Develops and maintains a robust system and methods for the reliable delivery of program projects.Works with stakeholders for evaluation of project scope and to determine priority within an established project schedule.Leads business process mapping to identify the business drivers for the selection of technology solutions.Coordinates with departments and teams to develop business cases for new projects that can be prioritized by the Management team.Fosters support for project management methodology throughout the community, including all functional areas in the college.Utilizes a review process that evaluates project success criteria after go-live in order to assure full value capture and continuous improvement opportunities.Sets criteria for determination of project priority and works with stakeholders to monitor and report on progress.Assists with project completion where possible.Builds relationships through communication that lead to widespread adoption of established systems, practices, and outcomes by stakeholders.Build effective relationships with external customers and ensure that their business needs/objectives are being met or exceeded. Addresses gaps and areas needing improvement. Facilitates Information Management Team technology discussions, prioritization, and governance to ensure efficient and effective decision-making.

Additional Duties:

  • Directs and supervises the Project Manager in the operational aspects of the project management functions.
  • Directs and supervises the Business Analysts in their efforts to support process reviews, project tasks, timelines, execution, completion and assessment.
  • Performs other related work as required.

    Minimum Education and Training
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, project management, information management, computer science or related field is required.
  • Minimum three years of management experience in overseeing and/or developing projects.
  • Familiarity with automated project management tools. Minimum Qualifications and Standards RequiredMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS REQUIRED

    Conversant with Project Management Institute PMBOK .Strong leadership ability and customer service skills.Skilled in the use of Word, Excel, Power Point, and project management tools.Experience with Colleague or other ERP systems.Higher education background Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skillsStrong supervisory and management skills

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Functional or technical experience with Ellucian Colleague or other ERP system targeted to the higher education marketExperience working within a higher education environmentLEAN Six Sigma certification or equivalentPMP certification or equivalentMBA or advanced degree related to organizational development or leadership

    Physical Requirements:

    The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
