Minimum Qualifications:

Requires are least a high school diploma or equivalent. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Position Summary:

This is a responsible supervisory roll in directing the efforts of skilled labor crews engaged in such activities as skilled trades assistance, coordinating special event set-ups such as commencements, moving of office supplies and equipment related to maintenance and labor intensive tasks. An employee allocated to this class of work is responsible for planning, directing and organizing the work of labor crews varying in sizes. Assignments are received both orally and in writing. Work is performed under the general direction of an administrative supervisor and is reviewed though inspection while in progress and upon completion.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

  • Will be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Will have a safe work history.
  • Will be able to operate equipment such as pick-up truck, box truck and all types of moving equipment.
  • Will follow all policies and procedures in regards to moving lab equipment on campus.
  • Will have flexibility to stay after 4:30 p.m. and/or work on weekends due to set-up of special events and/or emergencies that arise.
  • Will have computer skills with knowledge of MS Office and the ability to learn new facilities management software.

Physical Demands:

• Stoop, bend, squat, walk, stand, work with hands above head, work from a standard/extended ladder.
• Lift up to 75 lbs throughout a scheduled 10-hour work shift.
• Work under adverse weather conditions (e.g., rain, cold, heat).

Supervises the work performance and schedules all jobs for a team of Utility Workers. Work involves, but is not limited to: relocating of campus departments, per the office of OUA and OSM; pick up surplus and proper handling of State Property; communicating daily with our campus customers for providing estimates, determining manpower, scheduling and charging time for all work performed. Works closely with other Supervisors and Building contacts. Provide daily support as needed to Building Services, O&M and Sustainability for the Campus Recycling Program. Support includes pick-up requests for recycling materials such as wood pallets, ink cartridges, batteries of all types, hardback books, and all sorts of non-traditional items. These materials are taken to ACC CHARM.

Visit the campus and review all work orders pertaining to equipment and lab moves, meeting with the customers to ensure that equipment is decontaminated and the customer is ready for our services. Evaluate what tools are needed and communicate that with your employees. Support employees as needed to assure that the job is completed efficiently and safely.

Support Foreman with probationary and annual performance evaluations for all supervised employees; Schedule weekly meeting with employees as a group or one on one. Attend scheduled meetings as directed.

Attend special meetings for coordinating all event set-up support for Campus Groundbreakings, Building and Facility Dedications, Campus concerts and any other events scheduled.
