Compensation and Benefits

Staff:
Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,304 to $4,519 per month

Full classification Salary Range: $4,304 to $6,120 per month

This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Program Director of the College of Science and Mathematics Advising and Resources Center (ARC), the incumbent provides counseling and advising services to help students achieve their educational and personal goals at California State University, Fresno. This position is responsible for providing academic advisement and counseling services to support student transition to the university and retention through graduation.

Key Qualifications

• Working knowledge of the practices, procedures and activities of a university college, advising center, or similar department
• Working knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management
• Working knowledge of research and interview techniques
• Working knowledge of the principles of individual and group behavior
• Knowledge of study skills and retention intervention strategies
• Ability to:
  • Present clear and concise information both orally and in written form
  • Interpret and apply program rules and regulations
  • Advise student individually and in groups on routine matters where required

Education and Experience

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field
  • Additional specialized experience during which the applicant had acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis
• Equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field
  • A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience
