Job Description:

The News and Publications department at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has an immediate part-time position available for an Editorial Assistant.

The News and Publications department at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences promotes the work of the college’s faculty and students through the biannual Ytori magazine and college newsletter, the department shares what makes this college unique, along with assisting faculty in developing press releases, digital content for college departments, marketing materials and much more.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Contributing stories, factchecking and proofreading CLAS publications, including Ytori Magazine, the CLAS Newsletter and various digital stories at https://news.clas.ufl.edu/.
  • Writing copy for social media posts on the college’s Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn profiles.
  • Assisting in copywriting and editing various marketing pieces for the college.

Expected Salary:

$10.00 - $11.00 per hour; commensurate with education/qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Detail-oriented person with thorough knowledge of English grammar and usage
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AP style
  • Experience interviewing

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
