The Department of Surgery is seeking a Finance Associate who can provide finance and administrative related support working under general supervision. The position is responsible for will establish effective work processes and systems to achieve the strategic as well as tactical goals of supporting the Staff and Faculty within the Department of Surgery. Duties include:

  • Review, process, gather, and compile accounting transactions and documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Review financial transactions, support documents, etc. for accuracy, consistency, authorizations and compliance.
  • Compile, maintain, and review data and daily reports for accuracy. Generate standardized financial reports.
  • Monitor transactions in accounting systems for clearing and outstanding items.
  • Maintain accounting/finance departmental files and process documents for area of responsibility.
  • Resolve / Respond to transactional inquiries, escalate broader issues to the management.
  • May establish accounts in financial systems; prepare invoices.
  • Will be responsible for p-card administration.
  • May participate in new initiatives, such as OBI report creation and system testing.
  • Provide administrative support to the Department's Fiscal Affairs team.

* Other duties may also be assigned

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Understanding of PowerPoint and Excel functionalities.
  • General knowledge of financial analytical skills, data extraction methods, and report presentation.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate information.

  • High School diploma or equivalent and two years' work experience.

  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
  • Ability to operate computerized office applications and accounting systems.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal audiences and client groups.

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sit, sort, file paperwork or parts, grasp lightly, and use fine manipulation, lift, carry, push and pull objects that weigh 10 pounds or less.
  • Occasionally write by hand, twist, bend, stoop and squat.
  • Rarely stand, walk, reach or work above shoulders and use a telephone.
