Summary

The position works with Tulane University Center for Sport and will assist with the mental health and case management component of the Tulane Center for Sport Program, including the Professional Athlete Care Team Clinic. The primary responsibility is clinical and medical coordination of services management. Duties include: patient assessment, treatment planning and coordination, multidisciplinary staffing, case management and ongoing program monitoring and development. Follow-up with appropriate services locally and nationally is required. The position must interface successfully with university resources such as Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine, the NFLPA Trust, the Center Director, Tulane Athletics, and other academic departments and entities as needed to address the needs of the athlete and his family. The successful candidate must utilize the appropriate digital tools for communication and data analysis to support patient care, to enhance interoffice and intra-office communications, and to maintain confidentiality and the requirements of HIPAA.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Rehabilitation Counseling from an accredited program
  • Licensed Master Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor or Certified Rehab Counselor in Louisiana (or the ability to obtain before start date)
  • One year of experience with direct patient care, case management and psychosocial issues of adults

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Counselor or Rehabilitation Case Manager with at least 5 years of experience with case management and medical and psychosocial issues of adults.
  • Experience in developing and delivering case management to high profile athletes and their families.
  • Work history in a medical setting and academic experience.
  • Strong record of performance in case management social work, particularly with adults and families.
  • Experience in mental health rehabilitation and complex medical and neurological conditions.
  • Experience working with older adults and the aging population.
