About the Cardiovascular Translational Research Center
The Cardiovascular Translational Research Center (CTRC) was established in 2019 at the Columbia campus of the University of South Carolina. It serves multiple schools as it fulfills its mission to improve cardiovascular health in South Carolina and beyond through cutting-edge research, cost-efficient and high-quality healthcare delivery, rigorous training of the next generation of diverse cardiovascular scientists and engaging the community to eliminate disparities in health outcomes. Directed by R. Clinton Webb, Ph.D., over 8,000 square feet of space is dedicated to the center’s laboratories. In addition, the CTRC is affiliated with a UofSC School of Medicine comprehensive biotechnology facility that houses major equipment in the areas of small animal imaging, microscopy, molecular biology and flow cytometry (https://sc.edu/study/colleges_schools/medicine/research/research_facilities/instrumentation_resource_facility/index.php). Our research is enhanced by a highly collaborative environment with multiple colleges. As a new research center, the CTCR is positioned to undergo substantial thematic growth.
The CTRC is seeking candidates for a full-time tenure track faculty position at either the ASSISTANT or ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR level. Areas of strength in the CTRC include basic and translational research on cardiovascular physiology, pharmacology and cardiac disease. The preferred candidate will have a Ph.D., M.D., D.O. or D.V.M and appropriate postdoctoral experience. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an extramurally funded research program. Candidates will contribute to the research mission of the CTRC and participate in education programs in the medical and graduate schools. Applications also are welcome from faculty with existing research programs willing to relocate. Applicants with research interests in in the broad area of vascular physiology are encouraged to apply.
